Extraordinary electrical maintenance intervention —- Scheduled shutdown of the Cloud garr-ct1 region (Catania) 22-29 July 2025

Dear users,

We would like to inform you that, due to major extraordinary electrical maintenance at the INFN-LNS datacentre in Catania, which hosts the garr-ct1 Cloud region, a full shutdown of the infrastructure has been scheduled for the period between July 22 and July 29, 2025.

During this time frame, all systems and services hosted at the Catania datacentre will be unavailable.

🔧 Affected services

• All virtual machines (VMs) in the garr-ct1 region

• The Object Store service

These services will remain unreachable for the entire duration of the maintenance.

🔁 Temporary migration for critical services

If your VM hosts particularly critical services requiring continuity during the maintenance window, you may request a temporary migration to the garr-pa1 region (Palermo) no later than July 9, 2025. This option is not available for resources that utilize GPUs. 🕒 Operational timeline

GARR will perform a controlled shutdown of the entire garr-ct1 region starting on July 22 at XX:YY.

🔔 Reminders and notifications

To support your preparations, you will receive: - A reminder at least 7 days before the intervention - A final notification 24 hours before the actual shutdown

All other GARR Cloud regions, including garr-pa1, will not be affected by this maintenance and will remain fully operational. Thank you for your cooperation. We apologize for any inconvenience and remain at your disposal for any further assistance.
